- Detailed FE vehicle models downloaded
from National Crash Analysis Center’s site are modified for the
project.
- Engine, chassis, axels and wheel-hubs
are modeled with eight node rigid solid elements.
- Vehicle’s exterior surface is modeled
with 4-node shell elements.
Truss elements are inserted between solid and shell elements with
respective stiffness to model the crush characteristics of the
vehicle.
